The JC Penny Experience

Hey Ladies! It’s time to talk about another store that is fairly popular. Probably just as popular as Nordstrom. The J. C. Penney Company is a chain of American mid-range department stores based in Plano, Texas. The company operates 1,060 department stores in 49 U.S. states (JCPenney once operated in Hawaii) and Puerto Rico, and previously operated a catalog business and several discount outlets. In addition to selling conventional merchandise, JCPenney stores often house several leased departments such as Sephora, Seattle’s Best Coffee, salons, optical centers, portrait studios, and jewelry repair.

Recently, when doing a little research on JCPenny, I came across an alarming amount of consumer complaints about the store. I was so shocked to see this. On one site, I found 964 negative reviews. Since there are over 1000 locations, I sort of shrugged it off, but then thought about going through the consistent complaints and maybe dissecting them little bit. So let’s get into and see if these complaints are things you have experience in your own Nordstrom experience.

Customer Service

Let’s start off this JCPenny Review with arguably the most important aspect. Customer Service goes beyond the walls of the store.  It’s all about person to person connections, and how the employees represent the company that they are working for. When you are at work, you are the company. Every encounter a person has with you will determine how they perceive the company going forward. Here’s what some people are saying the customer service at JC Penny.

“I would not recommend J.C. Penney. I couldn’t get anyone at jewelry counter to wait on me, and the clerks were. Tried to call the store to get some answers about their terrible service, but store operator did nothing but hang up the phone.”

Another Consumer said,

“I went to J.C. Penney, and asked a sales associate for some help. He was incredibly rude when he answered. The next day he was even ruder at the counter. I just asked him a  question about a coupon.”

I noticed that a lot of these larger department stores, seems to hire people with egos and terrible attitude. Sometimes they won’t even serve you unless you look like you actually belong there in there store. The funny thing is, JC Penny really isn’t that nice of a store. So maybe the employees there are just rude in general. Now, keep in mind this is not every store out there. This is just a great handful of experiences worth noting.

Another huge part of these department stores in there online stores and presence. A lot of people shop from these stores from the comfort t of their own home. A lot of the testimonials I found we’re about their online stores. So let’s take a look at what people are saying.

One Consumer Wrote,

“I ordered an electric blanket online. I received a shipping confirmation the delivery date. Exactly 5 minutes after buying the blanket, I got an email saying there “has been a change in availability.” The product was no longer in stock. Mind you, my PayPal account has already been charged. I was forced to cancel the order to find a gift that I could give in time for Christmas.

Another Consumer Wrote,

“I ordered a pair of boots online. The order went through with no problem and received my confirmation. I received an email from JC Penney – the order was being processed. Two days before it was supposed to arrive I received an email that the boot order was cancelled due to it no longer being available. I am very upset as I could have got them on other sites but thought Penney’s would deliver.

I am fairly certain that the monkeys that run the Nordstrom’s online store are the same monkeys that run the JCPenny online store. Beyond all of the horror stories, I have seen some of the packages delivered, and they look absolutely terrible. It looks like all of their delivery monkeys just spend time tossing the boxes up against wall. What is it with these large clothing shop store that just make them terrible on delivering on packages? If you can’t do it right then, don’t do it at all.

I’ve got to be honest with you, ladies. I am sort of torn. I don’t really know what to think. While there is a great deal of evidence stacked against some branches at Nordstrom, I don’t it’s enough for me to call quits on this fairly reputable store .I guess I will say that they simply need to l clean up their act just a bit. All that was mentioned can be remedied. Again, it’s a big company with over 1000 stores just in the United States. There’s bound to be issues. The great thing about every issue is that there is always a solution. Thanks again, ladies for reading my posts. It means the world to be. See you next time!
